27th April 2007 - Backdale Public Inquiry Decision
SLEG are very happy with the decision of the Inquiry. SLEG particularly likes the statement that extraction of more than 2:1 of limestone:fluorspar breaks the terms of the 1952 permission. This is excellent news given the statement made in the inquiry that the actual ratio extracted is more than 50:1 of limestone:fluorspar.
SLEG request the following swift steps from the Peak District National Park Authority :
- Stop Notice on Wager’s Flat
- DONE - Assuming the ratio of limestone to fluorspar already extracted on Wager’s Flat exceeds 2:1, NPA to ensure that any limestone stockpiles on Wager’s Flat site are used for restoration.
- Assurance any new working of 1952 area would attract immediate planning contravention and stop notice action.
